Setting Up Competitors

Configure your competitors — individually, via bulk import, or for all clients.

Overview

Competitors are the brands and companies you compare your AI visibility against. The better you configure your competitors, the more meaningful your SOV data and analyses will be.

You can find competitor management under Competitors in the dashboard sidebar.

Adding a Competitor

To add a new competitor:

  1. Enter a name — Enter the display name of the competitor (e.g. “Shopify”).
  2. Add domains — Add at least one domain. ucited.ai automatically suggests relevant domains found in your data.
  3. Save — Click “Add” to save the competitor.

Tip: Multiple Domains per Competitor

A competitor can have multiple domains (e.g. “shopify.com”, “shopify.de”, “myshopify.com”). All mapped domains are aggregated in the SOV calculation.

Bulk Import

If you want to add many competitors at once, use the Bulk Import:

  1. Click the “Bulk Import” button
  2. Paste your competitors in the text field, one entry per line
  3. Use one of the following formats:
    • Name: domain1.com, domain2.com
    • domain.com (name will be derived automatically)
  4. Review the preview and click “Import”

During bulk import, existing competitors with the same name are automatically merged. New domains are added without overwriting existing ones.

Domains and Colors

For each competitor, you can configure the following:

  • Domains — The domains under which the competitor operates. You can add or remove domains at any time.
  • Color — Each competitor is assigned a color used in the dashboard charts. You can customize the color for better differentiation.

Apply to All Clients

If you manage multiple clients and want to use the same competitors for all of them, you can copy the current configuration to all clients:

  1. Click “Apply to all clients”
  2. Confirm the action in the dialog
  3. The competitor list is copied to all other active clients

Caution

This action replaces the competitor list of other clients. Make sure this is intended before confirming.

Client Settings

At the top of the Competitors page, you can also edit your current client’s settings:

  • Display name — The name under which your client is shown in the dashboard
  • Websites — The domains belonging to your client (important for data attribution)
  • Color — Your client’s color in the dashboard charts

Editing and Removing Competitors

You can edit or remove any competitor at any time:

  • Edit — Click the edit button to change the name, domains, and color
  • Remove — Click the remove button to delete a competitor

Practical Tip

Start with 3–5 direct competitors and expand the list gradually. After a few weeks, review the SOV data and add relevant brands you discover there.
