Citation Gaps

Automatic analysis of your visibility gaps — with concrete recommendations for action.

What Are Citation Gaps?

Citation Gaps is an automated analysis tool that evaluates your current visibility data and identifies gaps in your AI presence. It combines your citation data, mention data, and competitive comparisons to provide you with concrete, prioritized recommendations for action.

Where to Find Citation Gaps

You can find the tool under Tools → Citation Gaps in the dashboard sidebar.

How Does the Analysis Work?

The Citation Gaps analysis runs in three phases:

  1. Data collection — ucited.ai gathers your current SOV data, citation information, and competitor positions, identifying patterns and anomalies.
  2. Citation analysis — The most frequently cited domains are checked: where are you mentioned? Where not? Where are competitors present but you are not?
  3. AI evaluation — An intelligent analysis evaluates the collected data and generates concrete, prioritized recommendations for you.

The analysis starts automatically when you open the page. If your data has changed since the last analysis, a new analysis is automatically triggered.

Understanding Results

The analysis results are presented in clear tabs:

  • Recommendations — Prioritized action items that you can implement directly. Each recommendation explains what to do and why.
  • Gaps — Overview of identified visibility gaps, such as domains where competitors are present but you are not.
  • Strengths — Areas where you are already well positioned. Useful for identifying and expanding successful strategies.

Progress and Status

While the analysis is running, you will see a progress bar with the current status. The analysis typically takes a few minutes. If a phase fails, ucited.ai automatically attempts to re-run it.

Note

The analysis requires sufficient data. If you have just set up prompts and competitors, it may take a few days before enough data is available for meaningful recommendations.

Implementing Recommendations

The generated recommendations are directly actionable. Typical recommendation types:

  • Close content gaps — Create content on topics where competitors are visible but you are not
  • Expand presence on third-party sites — Get listed or mentioned on frequently cited domains
  • Optimize existing content — Improve pages that are cited but not yet optimally prepared for AI models
  • Track new prompts — Expand your monitoring to cover topic areas that are not yet included

Practical Tip

Work through the recommendations from top to bottom — they are sorted by priority. Start with the actions that have the greatest impact on your visibility.
